SERAh, the dark, striking, melodic bass project of Los Angeles-based musician and Lyra Records founder Natalie Demary, unveils its world with the debut single “Going Nowhere”.
The music is built around a feeling many people can relate to, being stuck in a cycle that feels impossible to break. “Going Nowhere” is about feeling stuck emotionally, the peculiar comfort in giving in to lethargy, the burden of something that always feels just out of reach. The music also offers insight into SERAh's creative universe. “Going Nowhere” sits within the SERAh Universe, a 20-chapter sci-fi story that forms the project's creative backbone. This gives the single a meaning beyond its own musical identity, it slots the single into a much wider plot.
The music combines lush melodic bass movement with epic scored effects. It was produced in Ableton Live with Serum synthesis and then augmented by genuine orchestral instrument studio recordings to give the composition a layered sound, both intimate and wide. That mix is integral to “Going Nowhere.” The melodic basses are mobile, while the striking textures widen the emotional space around them. This creates a listening experience meant to feel wider than a single moment, yet still tied to a very personal emotional state.
