S.C.A.B. paints a portrait with new single "LOVE" [Review]

S.C.A.B. offers "LOVE," a shimmering amalgamation of alt-rock, jangle pop, and a '90s feel that concisely captures the emotional gravity suggested by its title, showcasing some of their most mature songwriting yet. The track represents a massive expansion of their sound, as it mixes swirling shoegaze tendencies that they have never shown before with an undeniable melodic craftsmanship that cannot be taught.

"LOVE" is a sincere and deeply human expression of gratitude, and a tribute to the people, places, and things that make us who we are. It's a kind caress for anyone who has loved their city, their memories, or the strange beauty that can be gained in loss and change. New York is the emotional center of this song, and it's a place that can literally break your heart while simultaneously restoring everything you are and have, amidst breaking shit down, you find love & quality time between a bunch of disaster.

Recorded on beta film in a snug laundromat, those visuals represent the song. Created in the one-shot form, the aesthetic lends a raw and ramshackle appeal to the video, suggestive of a DIY world where innocence meets drudgery in daily life, yet remains impervious to it in a goofy way. "LOVE" draws you into its emotional embrace, soaring beyond the realm of a love song and becoming an ode to connection. It's a reminder that gratitude can be too, over-the-top and vibrant, chaotic and wretchedly imperfect, and S.C.A.B. is all of those things with sincerity and artistic passion.
