Foot Ox rides again with “Horseshoe”

Foot Ox has just released a new single, "Horseshoe," which showcases the unique and emotionally rich sound of artist Teague Cullen. This song is from an upcoming album, "A Lighthouse with Silver Dog Eyes," set to be out on August 11. The album is described as beautiful and complex, offering a glimpse into its expansive and captivating sound.

"Horseshoe" starts delicately, almost like a dream partially remembered. It captures a sense of memories, taking listeners on a gentle walk through a charming town at dusk, where each line evokes feelings of memory and wonder. This new track features an expanded sound, Cullen's familiar solo cello is now accompanied by a whole string section, thanks to collaboration with David J, who also takes on production and contributes vocals and guitars. This richer instrumentation adds emotional depth to the song while maintaining the intimacy for which Foot Ox is known. Elements like pedal steel and fiddle enhance the music, blending aspects of folk, country, and punk in a uniquely distinctive way. Originating from the vibrant DIY music scene in Phoenix-Tempe, known for producing artists like AJJ and Stephen Steinbrink, Foot Ox has spent nearly two decades pushing the boundaries of folk music. In "Horseshoe," Cullen dives deeper into the complexities of love and loss, raising thought-provoking questions rather than providing easy answers.

This catchy new track serves as an exciting preview of "A Lighthouse with Silver Dog Eyes," a collection inspired by experiences traveling throughout the American West. The album features a diverse range of musicians from bands such as AJJ and La Luz, among others, making it a rich and creatively eclectic project that feels both familiar and fresh.
