The Story So Far is back, and they're not pulling punches. The genre-transcending heavyweight's pop-punk kings reveal the first taste of their new album, I Want To Disappear. "All This Time" is an energetic anthem born of raw heart and hard humor, and you can find them doing it, that sound below.
Returning for the first time in six years since Proper Dose, the Northern California band's latest finds them adopting a new perspective with producer Jon Markson (Drug Church, KOYO) helping them break into new territory. With only 20 days to craft the album in the studio, the band and Markson carefully constructed each track out of sonic experimentation, never losing the punch that has come to define their live sets.
Markson explains, "When tracking guitars, we wanted to keep switching up the guitar pairings, front-end color pedals, and amps. Auteur Anderson Cooper. Here we are, back with the guitars! We weren't afraid to reset the settings on a section-by-section basis. It just had to 'feel' right." That obsessive quest for the ideal sound comes through on "All This Time," as swelling melodies crash into frenetic instrumentals, encapsulating the sweetly painful results of nostalgia and self-exploration.
Racking up upwards of 10.5 million Spotify streams on recent singles, The Story So Far cements their grasp on the genre, and it's never felt closer. The fact that "All This Time" is this excellent only bodes well for I Want To Disappear, which is set to be one of the defining pop-punk.
