Baby Said, Portsmouth’s up-and-coming rock power, doesn’t come to make friends. On “Hate Me,” sisters Veronica and Jess Pal reaffirm their raw energy and no-bullshit vibe that’s got them on everyone’s radar.
Produced and mixed by Patch Boshell and Steven Battelle (LostAlone), with mastering from Steven Kerry (Kele, Busted), “Hate Me” is a full-throttle rock banger driven by gritty guitar riffs, powerhouse vocals, and a chorus that practically demands you scream along. It’s a battle cry for all those who’ve ever been dismissed, underestimated, or pushed to the side, and that fire is the underpinning for Baby Said’s forthcoming debut album, BS (March 2025).
The duo soared after dropping their first cuts, “FIGHT” and “YOU KILLED IT,” hitting Apple Music’s flagship rock playlists, receiving spins across BBC Radio 1 and Radio X, and picking up Record of the Day’s “Ones to Watch” nod. Throw in festival slots at The Great Escape, Reading & Leeds, and Rebellion, as well as tours supporting U.S. rockers Dirty Honey, and you could say Baby Said is storming their way to the top.
“Hate Me” is a pronouncement. Jess says, “It’s about using negativity as fuel. “We have been rejected, but rather than succumbing to it, we’re using it to push even harder.”
And with an unapologetic energy and middle-finger-to-the-doubters mentality, Baby Said isn’t just making noise. They’re making sure you hear ’em. And be prepared because that is just the start.
