Zyp and Adama Kueta travel through solitude and exile on “Les Salines - Live”

Music can magically transport us to different places and times without moving. On their track “Les Salines - Live,” Grenoble-based band Zyp takes listeners on an introspective journey. Blending heartfelt folk with the unique sound of the kora, a traditional West African instrument played by Adama Kueta, the song touches on deep themes of solitude and exile. It’s part of their upcoming album, d'ici & d'ailleurs.

“Les Salines - Live” tells a poignant story about displacement. Rather than focusing only on the physical act of moving from one place to another, it delves into the loneliness and uncertainty that often accompany such experiences. The track encourages listeners to reflect on the personal stories and emotions tied to the larger issue of migration.

The song's simple folk style creates an intimate atmosphere, letting the themes shine without distraction. The blend of African sounds with folk music creates a sense of connection to distance, belonging, and loneliness.

Adama Kueta’s role is especially important. As a kora player and a griot from Burkina Faso, he introduces a unique musical flavor to the song. His instrument adds richness and depth, bridging the band's folk roots with vibrant West African musical tradition and enriching the overall listening experience.
