The Generation revive their lost era with “Don't Know About You”

Some musical treasures take years to find their time in the spotlight. For a band called The Generation, that moment is finally arriving after more than thirty years. Hailing from Washington, D.C.’s lively 1980s music scene, the band is now ready to share recordings that sat in a London storage unit from 1991 until their discovery in 2024.

With their catchy, upbeat sound, often described as Wowwerpop. The Generation was part of a vibrant music culture that also included bands like Modest Proposal and The Mondays. Though the band created fun and memorable music, they didn’t release any records during their short time together.

Now, after all these years, their music is getting another chance to shine. Their song “Don’t Know About You” will be released as the B-side of their debut single by Detour Records, alongside the track “When I Tell You.” This release finally brings their long-hidden music to eager listeners.

The story behind this release adds an exciting layer. These songs aren’t just old recordings, they capture a creative moment from the past and let listeners connect with a band whose music has long been out of reach.
