With “The Habit,” their second release as The Marches, the duo is digging deeper into the universe of their debut EP Faultline. Tense and evocative, the song deals with cycles we know all too well yet continue to return to.

Recorded and written in-studio during a four-day creative purging with Blair Crichton of Molotov’s and Dead Pony, the tune has the urgency of a concentrated creative process. That environment seems to have helped create a focused, melodic, and instinctual work, while maintaining an atmospheric edge throughout.
The Habit is so fascinating because the tension works so effortlessly with the musical element. It’s heavy enough to make an immediate impact, but there’s also a sense of movement that gives the track a wider appeal across genres.
