Matt Law’s "Made Up Construct" is a creative and personal milestone, as it is the first full-band recording from the Riverside Music College sessions.
At the heart of the song is the way we make meaning from everything around us, wondering if much of what we see is actually driven by our own need for connection and interpretation. It’s not magical, but it’s reflective, its concepts rooted in approachable, melodic lyrics.
The full-band arrangement adds vigor and cohesiveness, giving the intellectual concerns a physical pulse. The chorus is forced to stay, and enhances the tension of contemplation and urgency, making sure the track is memorable beyond the concept.
“Made Up Construct” hits a nice middle ground of depth and accessibility. It doesn’t separate thought and sensation, it enables them to live together. The end effect is a song that demands a replay, not just for the hooks, but also for the questions it leaves hanging in the air.
