Brian Mullins revisits southern youth in “Growing Up In Georgia”

Brian Mullins, an independent country songwriter, is back with a new single, "Growing Up In Georgia." The song was recorded entirely in Mullins's home studio, "Hillbilly Records." It captures the spirit of youth in the American South and is based on Mullins's own teenage years in Georgia in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Mullins is known for writing and producing his own music, and he does it again. Every part of the song, from the writing to the production, comes from his own ideas, which gives the release a very real feel. You can hear that independence in the song's reflective tone, where memories and feelings mix naturally with a classic country sound. Storytelling is a big part of Mullins's musical identity, and "Growing Up In Georgia" is based on that. Instead of following trends, he focuses on the small things and feelings that shaped his early years. The song sounds real and lived-in, like it's being shared on a front porch instead of from a stage far away. His music connects with people who value honesty over polish thanks to his down-to-earth style.

Mullins has also made recording in his own studio a big part of how he makes music. Not only is "Hillbilly Records" a place to work, but it's also where he turns his personal stories into music. That closeness comes through in the recording itself, giving the single a warm, unfiltered quality that matches the memories it brings back.
