Tia Gostelow shines in the dark with "Always (Low Lights Version)"

Tia Gostelow is back with a radiant new release, “Always (Low Light Version),” a beautiful reimagining of a fan-favourite track that showcases the award-winning songwriter at her most intimate. This new version is a room-softener, the volume turned way down on the world outside, all while cozying listeners up to the soft pulse of Gostelow’s inner cosmos.

Drawn in producer and long-term collaborator Matthew McGuffie’s Camden bedroom during the balmy days of summer, the track feels like it bears the fingerprints of a handmade approach. Gostelow and McGuffie had started with the acoustic guitar alone, an open, grounded base to unfold everything else around. The couple builds layer by layer, adding piano, strings, bass, and a constellation of harmonies that strikes with warmth. The result is a version that feels both feather-light and deeply anchored, a glowing reimagining that respects the song’s center while pulling at its emotional threads.

If the original “Always” wielded its own special brand of power, with the Low Lights Version she embraces openness so fiercely that there’s nothing else for her to do. Gostelow’s voice hovers with a warmth that almost seems touchable, close enough to feel her breath, delicate enough for it to capture you, and strong enough to keep you there. McGuffie’s rendering cloaks all in a gentle, naturalistic coloring, so that the song’s center glows anew with directness.

It’s a beautiful step forward and up for Gostelow as we hear the growing nuance in her storytelling, while the maturity in her voice shines on Too Soon. “Always (Low Lights Version)” is not just a softer take, it’s a recovery, an intimate rebirth, and a testimony to how strong a song can be if you shed the noise and get down to its soul. It’s Tia Gostelow, shot in low light and shining brighter than she ever has.
