Vinyl Floor return with thrilling elegance on “Mr. Rubinstein”

With “Mr. Rubinstein (single edit),” Danish melodic rock duo Vinyl Floor reveal the first taste of their forthcoming record "Balancing Act", out on February 27th, 2026, and what a brilliant introduction it is. The track unfolds like a slow zoom in on a film, mellow yet thrilling, an old pop/rock tradition laced with the smooth lines of modern production.

Recorded at Studio Möllan in Sweden, “Mr. Rubinstein” has a touching, atmospheric allure. Its instrumentation is both intimate and grand, a finely textured tapestry on which the gently trembling strings of Christian Ellegaard and soulful wind arrangements by Bebe Risenfors, whose credits include work with Tom Waits, weave layers of wistful sophistication. The production sounds transparent and open, allowing each instrument to breathe as the story unfolds.

“Mr. Rubinstein” is a story of clashing egos, as old as rock itself. But Vinyl Floor delivers it with more than just storytelling, more, in fact, as a psychological sketch driven by melody and texture. The vocals trade off between openness and defiance, set against a rhythm that somehow pants its way quietly through tension.

And for Thomas Charlie Pedersen and Daniel Pedersen, this music is one more strong step in their evolution, combining their retro influences with a very modern sound of today. Every chord is tinged with a hint of melancholy, but there’s also a sense of resolve on the horizon that the album that will follow somehow won’t be as complex and emotionally rich.
