The inspired “Sonix Run (Acoustic and Gentle),” is a gentle reverie in which B.Shop and Keiss rewind time for a quiet night beneath hurtling neon lights. Some of those have reverberated across the intervening years into this new song, which is a heady mix of warm acoustic tones pulsing with a beat reminiscent of 90s retro culture, washed-out game cartridges, and a soft CRT glow, with a lingering whiff of bittersweet memory.
Storming the underground scene of Arkhangelsk from 1994 to 1998, B.Shop made a name for themselves with snotty English-sung punk and grunge anthems mined from stage energy. Reunited now, in 2025, they’ve refined their sound without losing that restless edge. Teaming with Keiss, whose chippy, synthwavy textures provide the soundtrack for 8-bit heartsickness, PZA and his new partner have made memories sound oddly contemporary.
“Sonix Run (Acoustic and Gentle)” taps into the emotional undertow of midlife memories. The track doesn’t shout, it glows. Its layers of acoustic sounds are intimate and human, while careful electronic flourishes allude to the joyous escapism of the 16-bit era. The effect is akin to having your favorite song sung back to you by an old friend who knows all the words.
B.Shop’s return is more than a reunion, it’s a revamp. In mining their influences while tapping into softer, more introspective sensibilities, they reveal that the past isn’t really something to live in so much as something to play on repeat.

Run, Sonic! We have just gotten a wake-up call from the Nintendo Generation!
