Sherwyn shoots passion and love with cinematic new single "Point N Shoot" [Review]

L.A.'s own Sherwyn has always balanced openness with swag, but his latest single "Point N Shoot" takes that duality to another level. The track, which is part of his "Spin City EP," jumps directly into the erratic exhilaration of falling in love, but with a high-risk twist. Continuing a constantly-building momentum, "Point N Shoot" is an atmospheric mix of Alternative and Indie R&B helmed by Sherwyn, with substantial contributions from power-player collaborators Sol Was and Solomonophonic.

The production gleams with present-day polish, breathy, soulful vocals smash against low-end beats and crackles, creating a dynamic room of sound that would feel right at home. Sherwyn calls the song a scene that he envisioned where Cupid shows up with a gun instead of a bow. That imagery gets at the heart of "Point N Shoot," love itself as thrill and risk, a confrontation in which feelings are bullets. His voice slinks with a slippery self-assurance, at times menacing, at others wimpy and soft, encapsulating the confusion of catching feelings for someone who hasn't exactly said it back.

The accompanying music video, directed by Dom Glover and Aris Chatman, brings that intensity to life visually as a high-octane, almost theatrically exaggerated look at the chaotic side of romance. The sound and the visuals together make it feel like an entirely emotional universe, teeming with danger and desire. Taken from the "Spin City" EP, this song solidifies Sherwyn as a multi-dimensional storyteller–producer, songwriter, and performer, all while being able to combine heart and heat in one singular blast.
