A product of the San Francisco Bay Area, feliciano is inspired by the contrasts of modern life, beauty and chaos, digital and natural, now and next.
"The Prayer" captures these dualities in raw sincerity that seems alive. Recorded in two hours at Bird and Egg Studio with producer Nick Pimentel, the track united more than a dozen singers from wildly diverse musical worlds, from cumbia to choral, into a tapestry celebrating unity among diversity. Liliana Urbain's cymbal swells provide the gentle motion, while Mateo Nube's guitar and Jordan Lowe's bass and keys make a sturdy base that levels Feliciano's voice.
Its creation process feels deeply communal even outside of the studio. Supplemental sounds were recorded in friends' houses, and the band's guitarist, Mike Walti, polished them at Wyldwood Studios. The result is a luminous work that reverberates with honesty. "The Prayer" is a call to remember the Earth, our roots, and each other. On this release, selena feliciano is inviting us to listen to the world around us, to our own hearts and to the still small truth that lies beneath all the noise.
