Henry Grace finds stillness in motion with poignant new single “Things”

Rising British songwriter Henry Grace's newest release, "Things," is the achingly delicate title track of his forthcoming sophomore album, "Things Are Moving All Around Me". Fittingly announced alongside a release show at London Bush Hall, this latest offering is a moving look into an artist boldly stepping into a new chapter of sound and self.

"Things" seems like a calm discovery from the instant the very first notes play through. Grace's wispy vocals drift through warm, affectionate layers of bittersweet sound, unraveling as slowly and eloquently as a late-night confession exchanged with a best buddy. A breeze of openness moves through the track, an ambiance of looking back that lingers long after the song fades. While his prior work had an intimacy borne of a traveling troubadour,

"Things" illustrates a shift, a songwriter allowing himself the space to develop into the character of a band leader and teller of tales, his sound growing richer and more striking. Co-produced by Blaine Harrison of Mystery Jets, "Things" perfectly captures the duality of Grace's new film, a push-pull between motion and rest, between the opened skies of California and London's intimate warmth. "Things" is both a poem and a demand of development, of the past, and of the hardly noticed minutes and hours that carry us through it.

As Grace prepares to release "Things Are Moving All Around Me", "Things" feels like the silent hurricane eye, a gentle indication that, even as life can change, in movement or in stillness, beauty is found. Henry Grace not only reveals an album titled "Things" but also opens the door to a constantly evolving world, urging us to pay attention, perceive, and accompany him on the journey.
