St. Louis native artist Arnold Williams Jr, a.k.a Kayos, returns with his latest offering, “Life Love Pain.” The song serves as a fresh start for the rapper as he steps forward with his own imprint, Kayos Entertainment, LLC, and not only represents a return but also comes in strong.
Fans of Kayos’s previous underground cuts like “I Know They Mad” and “St. Louie Love,” which features his longtime collaborator Hitch, will instantly recognize his unvarnished delivery, capable of transmuting life into cutting lyricism. But “Life Love Pain” is different. It’s dressed in layers of honesty and grit and a type of openness that penetrates deeper than it ever has, combining personal reflection atop universal themes that anybody can relate to.
Kayos’s journey has always been about staying afloat. Fast forward to 2014, when he made his debut by reaching the Top 50 in the Jack’N For Beats St. Louis competition, a feat that caught the attention of the Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey official page. Now, after spending the years in between growing both inside and outside of the booth, he’s returned as not just an artist, but also as the founder and C.E.O. of his own creative house.
“Life Love Pain” is literally what its title says it is. The pretty overlap of living. A narrative coupled with a commanding vocal presence, the track drives home why Kayos has always stood out. He isn’t afraid to spin his truth into music that rings true.
