Fulton Lights returns with spark and urgency on new single “Hold That Thought”

Fulton Lights is back and brighter than ever with "Hold That Thought," the gleaming first single from forthcoming EP "Well the Night Has Come."

"Hold That Thought" is a meditation and a call to arms. Goldman calls it an investigation of how you stay open to those moments where creativity is born and how you catch and release them before they disappear. It's a way of reclaiming your time against everything that conspires to take our time, he says. You get that sense from the song's throb of restless pulse. Every drum-bang, vocal harmony, and percussive flail bristles against silence and inertia.

The song is elevated by an ensemble of collaborators who contribute their own textures and histories to the mix. TJ Lipple (Aloha) brings propulsive, shape-shifting drums that always keep the song in transit. John Davis of the bands ex-Q and Not U, Georgie James, Title Tracks & Paint Branch also provides some atmospheric backing vocals throughout, echoing Goldman's urgent feel. And Grammy-nominated producer Tony Maimone Pere Ubu, Book of Knots, who also mixed the track at Studio G, keeps everything afloat with inventive percussion that imbues the music with a tactile energy.

"Hold That Thought" announces not just a return, but a reinvention. It's Fulton Lights if the former felt sharper, louder in volume, and more committed to capturing a spark as close to the one within creation itself. Through its layers and finely tuned lyricism, the song seizes the fleeting moment when inspiration hits and demands that we hold on tight. Fulton Lights is back, and the night ahead is still wide awake with possibilities.
