Dublin-based indie act Crayfish reach the heady heights of their ninth single release this year with "Points For Stopping." Mixing the shimmer of dream pop with the raw confessional spirit of indie rock as well as indie pop, the song is a dynamic listening experience that seems both unsettled and comforting.
"Points For Stopping" is the tug-of-war between frustration and forward motion. There's a pulse of unease running through its melodies, an echo of the restless nights and unfinished thoughts to which everyone can relate, but Crayfish offset that intensity with glimmers of hope. Instead of wallowing in uncertainty, the song looks to resilience, giving you an anthem that progress often originates within pauses.
Recorded by Tosh Molloy and Eoin Whitfield, production is lush but exact. Instead of putting restlessness as an endpoint, Crayfish casts it as part of the journey, a moment one must take before taking the next leap forward. With the release of this record, Crayfish remind us again why they've become one of the most exciting new indie voices to have emerged from Dublin. "Points For Stopping" is a testament to their ability to make raw emotion into the most finely sculpted sound, and has you not only reflective but also uplifted.
