LQV turns love into sound with “Every Time & Always (A Quiet Reflection)”

Singapore LQV is back, transformed with a touching rework of their previous power ballad “Every Time & Always (A Quiet Reflection). Where the original relied on soaring vocals and grand gestures, this version peels things back to their emotional core, resulting in a track that feels intimate, timeless, and deeply personal.

The motive for this fragile reimagining arose from a heartfelt challenge. Zoe, JD Robbins’ daughter, asked her dad and band to create their own version for her to one day take a walk down the aisle. What LQV offers is precisely that, a bare-bones arrangement that leaves listeners to simply savor the openness and beauty of two individuals questioning the path that leads them to a mutual understanding. Piano, strings, and touching horns softly caress the duo’s somber, trademark emotive vocals, framing each line with a sombre, almost striking sheen.

LQV have always been praised for their mix of folk-prog wistfulness and modern pop flashes, and this song is an embodiment of their blend. Chinmay’s Indian classical background weaves harmoniously with James’s singer-songwriter and rock influences, creating a world that is at once familiar and refreshingly new. There’s a reverence there, an acknowledgement that love, like music, is a thing to be enjoyed slowly and in earnest.

Linh Delandro’s monochrome cover art reflects the track’s stripped-down sophistication, echoing the hushed beauty of a love that lasts the test of time. LQV’s lyrical compositional approach also includes visual storytelling, something that never gets lost on the group, making it an all-encompassing experience that stays with you long after the last note of the music itself.
