TV FACE returns snarling with their latest single, "Boots Pocket Coffin," out May 2nd via Crackedankles Records. It's a wild, swaggering punch to the gut wrapped in feedback, groove, and a horror-tinged attitude.
Clocking in with all the spit and sharp edge, fans have come to expect, "Boots Pocket Coffin" doesn't just stomp into the room, it kicks the goddamn door off its hinges. There's a magnetic sleaze to it, like a midnight creature emerging under flickering streetlights. It thrashes and struts with equal measure. Riding a dirty bassline and scuzzed-out guitars into a frenzy that feels part dancefloor, part spiraling descent. But beneath its undeniable stomp and twisted groove lies something much more venomous. TV FACE, ever sharp with their DIY ethic and politically barbed wit, describe the single as a song about the frantically voracious and unquenchable appetites of the super-rich for whom the world is not enough. It shows. A lingering paranoia and biting satire are baked into every lyric and fuzz-drenched riff.
"Boots Pocket Coffin" feels like a cryptic warning and a party invite. Still, as much as the track tears into unchecked greed and grotesque excess, it never forgets to groove. This is protest music you can sweat to. Punk for the dance floor. A sexy slab of noise, indeed.
