Caper Clowns drops power-pop gem "It's My Business"

Danish pop-rock sweethearts Caper Clowns bring us another earworm that drips with self-confidence in the most appealing manner. The band's new single, "It's My Business," arrived on April 28. It is a gloriously upbeat reminder that maybe the best policy is knowing you're right and owning it.

Digging into their tried and tested mix of 60s sunshine and 90s Britpop, Caper Clowns get right on blending the old with the new here. It is the third song in a series of singles up to their fourth album.

From the very first strum, the single beams with bright guitars, layered harmonies, and a rhythm section that somehow skips along. But don't be misled by the sunny hooks. There's a mischievous lyrical swagger at work here. "It's My Business" is a self-love anthem for anyone who's had it with second-guessing. It's not arrogance, it's confidence with a wink. Henrik Krogh's charismatic lead vocals float over jangly electric guitars and punchy keyboard accents. The production made in-house by the band and mixed/mastered by Krogh at Ferritslev Arrest keep things tight and lively. Rick Kingo's guitars bite and flourish, and Rasmus Almlund's drums and Christian Højgaard's bass lock in with nimble precision. Throw in the sugary chorus of backing vocalists Kingo and Almlund, along with Peter Højgaard, and you have a chorus that absolutely begs to be sung out loud.

Shaped by the likes of Cahill and Delta bluesman Rory Block, one of her idols, he's made a smart record that includes sweet homages to country and previous radio hits like "Anywhere Is Home," "Pockets and The Way I Dream," with a tone of unshakeable self-belief.
