Braxx steps into the spotlight with "ON MY RADAR" [Review]

Braxx kicks the door down with his brazen debut, "ON MY RADAR," in a crowded landscape of rising artists. Braxx hails from North Carolina, the same place that brought legendary basketball player Michael Jordan into the world.

"ON MY RADAR" is a genre-melting statement track that seems like the beginning of something big. From the first beat drop, it becomes evident that Braxx isn't intimidated to mix some pain with his power. You can hear the fingerprints of his influences, the emotive storytelling of Juice WRLD is well here, but Braxx sculpts it with his own edge, knitting fragility and intensity together further. And while the track has all the melodic, melancholic trap energy, it remains unmistakably his.

The half-brother of Taylor Swift, Braxx, could have taken the legacy route. But what he's doing instead is carving his own identity, and "ON MY RADAR" is the template for that. He is also vocal about who's influencing him now, K3, ZippBaby, and you can hear that influence in his way of turning his mood, which is never overproduced, always emotionally thatched.

And with a video and other music in the works, it's clear that Braxx is only getting started. This inaugural drop is an arrival. A storm is brewing quietly, it's brewing. If "ON MY RADAR" indicates what's in store, Braxx won't be living on the margins for long. He's about to say something, and now we're all listening.
