18 Acres drops hard-hitting jam "Hookers From Space"

With a title as striking as its beat, 18 Acres' newest single "Hookers From Space" doesn't just knock it teleports. That cosmic boom-bap banger lands with the thump of old-school hip-hop but costumed in tinfoil and stardust, itching to abduct ears and hijack playlists.

"Hookers From Space," rides a gritty, head-nodding rhythm that is a throwback to the golden-era sound of hip-hop while shining with a weird, incredible, slightly warped vision of the future. The track shines with analog grit and punchy snares, produced and buffed to intergalactic-spec accuracy by Limonhero Estudio. At the same time, its low-end groove could jettison a UFO directly out of a Brooklyn block party.

18 Acres fully embraces the track's eerie motif, rapping bars with a laid-back swagger and a knowing smirk equal parts B-movie chic and underground cypher king. There's humor, but razor-sharp timing and love for the craft grounds the song's far-out concept in some absolute hip-hop respect. It's the type of track that might make you roll your eyes at the name and then keep coming back for the flow. What makes it remarkable is actually how well it all fits together. Nothing is forced, which is impressive given the ridiculous premise. The hook's hypnotic, the verses tabletop, and the whole thing smacks of a nimble imagination taking a joyride but with skills, no kidding. Songs that are outrageously funny and deeply grounded in the classic hip-hop sounds of yore don't often come around. "Hookers From Space" accomplishes both with flair.

And though there are no delusions of 18 Acres being here just to entertain– they're here to build their universe, one offbeat track at a time, and that's for damn sure. And if this single is any indication, it's going to be an unruly one.
