Sofi Vonn is back and has more attitude than ever with her newest single, “VOGUE,” a biting, self-aware anthem that flips the script on the concept of digital validation and media obsession.
Written by Sofi and produced by Jack Ducker Saint Joshua, Darco Recordings, “VOGUE” crackles with dance-pop sensibility, mixing tongue-in-cheek lyricism with an impossible-to-ignore beat. Inspired by Charli XCX’s Brat era, “VOGUE” pokes fun at the notion that an artist’s value can be calculated with pencil and paper from their accumulated press. Over some intentional auto-tuning and an infectiously slapping rhythm, Sofi offers a cheeky, possibly self-referential take on the pressures of social comparison in this digital age.
“I wanted to create something fun but also authentic to the experience of being an artist today,” Sofi explains. “There’s this constant pressure to be seen and written about, but what does that mean? “VOGUE” is a way for me to make a joke out of it and create something that you can dance to.”
With its flamboyant production and wink at the hype machine, “VOGUE” was not just a song but a statement. Sofi Vonn is in the house, and whether she gets the magazine cover or not, she’s making noise on her terms.
