Ooberfuse unveils new single, "We Will Overcome"

Ooberfuse new single "We Will Overcome," the previously unheralded Ooberfuse comes back to the music scene in a big way, with a gut-wrenching yet uplifting theme that tackles the horrific child trafficking epidemic in the Philippines. Motivated by their work with the PREDA Foundation, a Nobel Peace Prize-nominated organization that rescues and supports children who have been trafficked for sex, "We Will Overcome" doubles as a musical and a message and a musical call to action.

"The release of this song comes on the heels of the contentious defunding of USAID's child protection programs during the Trump administration, which took crucial resources from at-risk communities. As Olongapo, a city once characterized by the exploitation around former US naval bases, remains vulnerable to an uptick in trafficking and abuse, "We Will Overcome" is a resounding reminder of resilience and communal grit.

Finding its arms wrapped around stirring vocals and emotive instrumentation, Ooberfuse's signature fare of synth-driven pop and raw storytelling offers an intensely personal experience. The duo's unyielding dedication to raising the voices of the voiceless echoes in each note, urging all who hear to stand with them.

Music can unlock empathy and promote change," the band tells PEOPLE. "we hope that "We Will Overcome" sparks a dialogue and reminds people that even when faced with extreme injustice, we can overcome it through unity and compassion."
