Mortal Prophets release new single, “New Breed”

John Beckmann’s Mortal Prophets released “New Breed”. A thrilling teaser of their forthcoming album, The Confessions of a Sword Swallower, out this fall, “New Breed,” is a heady mix of raw experimentation and edge-of-the-seat storytelling.

Immersed in the energy of the strange unknown, “New Breed” is vastly out there, mirroring all its avant-garde hullabaloo between the eerie atmospherics, pulsing rhythms, and Beckmann’s musical wizardry. It’s a song like entering a neo-futuristic dream, simultaneously dark and exhilarating, a collision of sound and vision.

“New Breed” is accompanied by a bloody and beautiful, technicolor fever dream of a music video directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Michelle Civetta. That’s a striking visual metaphor for an experimental track whose ethos is echoed in the video, which shows a UFO landing in a futuristic world among ancient Maya ruins. And yet, somehow, these two worlds become intertwined, as if time and space become, for a moment, synonymous with sound, and the mystical and the mechanical coalesce into something altogether surreal that echoes in the mind long after the music has ceased.

With “New Breed,” Mortal Prophets cement their status as sonic architects, creating worlds that defy time and genre. With even less than a week to go until The Confessions of a Sword Swallower opens up its noble tier, there’s one thing that the whole world must know before the bones of the devil are cooked and eaten. Mortal Prophets is the sound of the future of underground music, folks, and it’s wearing your clothes.
