The Maddocks set the indie scene ablaze with their new single "Benny Says"

The Maddocks' latest single is "Benny Says." A visceral blend of post-punk grit, psychedelic swells, and unfiltered energy, the Stockport four-piece creates a track that takes hold of you by the collar and won't let go.

It starts with a kick: Siobhán Lally's hypnotic basslines and Ed Gibbins' urgent drumming create an electrifying pulse, a base note upon which George Edwards' soaring vocals and Alex Tollerfield's searing guitar work can build. The result? A frenzied, anthemic burst of noise that resembles a full-speed night out crammed into three minutes.

"Benny Says" is a visceral exploration of inner turmoil, all wrapped in a frenetic, swirling sonic palette that oscillates between chaos and catharsis. It's a song designed for sweaty, packed-out venues, with a chorus that could be chanted back at the band itself. And that's precisely what fans have done. "Benny Says" has been a fixture in their live set since 2022, with the rapturous energy solidifying its status as one of their most beloved songs.

Encouraged by Radio X's John Kennedy, Tim Burgess, and XS Manchester, along with notable performances at Kendal Calling and Lakefest, The Maddocks are experiencing a momentum that is only getting larger. And with their most high-profile headline gig to date at Manchester Academy 3 for March 2025, they aren't showing any signs of simply being your average hungry indie group; they are very much moving to be a force.
