Steve Hewitt strips it all back in the hauntingly beautiful new single "Lost The Reason"

Steve Hewitt is back with a soothing ballad and poignant new single, "Lost The Reason." "Lost The Reason" will echo in your head long after the last pluck of a guitar string. From his forthcoming album Never Two Days The Same, "Lost The Reason" is a delightful example of Hewitt's trademark blend of Folk Pop, Alt-Country, and Americana, but this time with an intimacy that goes directly for the jugular.

"Lost The Reason" is a painful tale about a fraternal bond destroyed through betrayal. Hewitt's warm, aching vocals bear the weight of disappointment and regret, and every lyric seems closely plotted like a confessional. His gentle, strummy acoustic guitar provides the foundation, and the ghostly harmonies and weeping cello, thanks to Miriam Cox, lend an emotional weight that's ultimately fragile yet devastating.

The cinematic music video for "Lost The Reason" was shot on the beautiful White Cliffs of Dover, and the backdrop magnifies its introspection. With the art direction of Oliver James Seager and Ginger Mafro, it's an astoundingly poignant visual counterpart that complements "Lost The Reason's" themes of loss, isolation, and longing.

There's something in Hewitt's musical DNA that combines influences from David Gray to Bob Dylan, Blaze Foley to Fink, and John Legend to create bridges between the past and present while remaining his beast. "What distinguishes him is his ability to balance storytelling with sonic vulnerability, an artist willing to drop his guard.

The second single from Never Two Days The Same, "Lost The Reason," is a small taste of what's to come on the deeply personal journey. With a steady drip of songs to be released before a full album in early 2025, Hewitt keeps demonstrating that the best stories don't just enter your ears. They penetrate your soul.
