Rachel Chinouriri does a new take on "All I Ever Asked," recruiting up-and-coming alt-pop maestro Sombr to add a bright new dimension to her fan-favorite track.
This reimagined version lands after a well-deserved BRITs nomination and first-ever North American headline tour announcement, making it an electrifying moment for Chinouriri. "All I Ever Asked" begins grandly familiar, but when sombr sweeps in on the second verse, it becomes something else entirely. His breezy, indie-tinged delivery sinks into the "All I Ever Asked" emotive center, his harmonies meshing seamlessly with Chinouriri's trademark, plush hums. When they join forces in the second chorus, their voices sound like they are always destined for each other.
Commenting on the collaboration, some states, "I was in a café on the Lower East Side when I first heard "All I Ever Asked." It was a burst of sunshine, and I loved it so much." Chinouriri echoes their excitement, "Sombr has brought such incredible light and joy into the song. His tone, writing, and style have always been so cool, and I'm so glad he wanted to be part of it."
As Chinouriri takes to the road this May with BIZZY and Alemeda, let's just hope that Sombr manages to make a surprise appearance and brings this stunning rendition IRL. Until then, this take on "All I Ever Asked" may play on a loop, evidence that good songs only improve over time.
