Momma spins up the wheel with the electrifying new single "I Want You (Fever)"

Momma out of Brooklyn returns, and they're burning hotter than ever with their new single, "I Want You (Fever)". The track is a hazy stew of '90s alt-rock nostalgia and contemporary indie grit, encapsulating the disheveled, intoxicating feelings of wanting someone you know you probably shouldn't. But like any excellent summer fling, the temptation is too hard to resist.

Channeling the slacker cool of Sonic Youth and the punchy hooks of Veruca Salt, Momma, which includes Etta Friedman, Allegra Weingarten, Aron Kobayashi Ritch, and Preston Fulks, takes a qualitative leap into fevered anthem territory, dripping with crunchy guitars and sirenlike, intermingled vocals. With its infectious refrain, "Pick up and leave her. I want you, (fever)," the song pulses with equal parts yearning and self-assurance as it narrates the push-and-pull of an inevitable love triangle, with at least one of three parties sure to end up scorched.

"'I Want You (Fever)' is about wanting to be with someone who's not quite over their past yet," the band says. "There's desperation, but there's also this self-confidence we know we're what they want.

Directed by Jaxon Whittington, the music video for the track is just as crazy and untamed. Set against the sweeping canvas of a desert, it chronicles the group as they infiltrate a house, upending an unremarkable living room that becomes a DIY stage for their playful, defiant spirit.

"I Want You (Fever)" is the newest taste of Momma's upcoming album, Welcome to My Blue Sky. Momma has a stacked tour schedule, with Primavera Sound and Outbreak Festival just around the corner, and they're set to stake a claim in 2025. Brace yourself. This fever is contagious.
