Maz strikes pop gold with the addictive new single "Kiss Kiss Boom"

Maz returns and is bolder than ever. The Utah-born electro-pop sprite recently released her new single, "Kiss Kiss Boom," believe us when we say it will be stuck in your head long after the first listen. This synth-laced earworm provides the first taste of her debut EP, NPC (out April 4th), and it's a perfect set-up for what's to come.

With a laid-back, superb delivery, Maz glides over a glimmering beat between a neon-filled dance floor and a late-night drive through city streets. Citing the influence of Blondie, Santigold, and Daft Punk, she's constructed a throwback-meets-the-future sound think Gorillaz meets Stereolab raised by a family of 21st-century chaos. "Kiss Kiss Boom" hook, "No contact is harder than kiss, kiss, boom," is deceptively simple yet devastatingly catchy, encapsulating the bittersweet detonation of loving someone you shouldn't.

And what makes "Kiss Kiss Boom" so engrossing is Maz's straightforward but artful approach. Every synth pluck, every beat, every breathy vocal is intentional, yet there's just enough space left in "Kiss Kiss Boom" for it to breathe, all while feeling complete and immersive. It's the sort of song that sneaks up one minute, you're listening; the next, you're obsessed.
