corook shares new single “THEY!”

Corook, a Trailblazing pop innovator, returns with “THEY!” a joyous and unapologetic queer anthem that’s already generating hype. After a teaser went viral on TikTok, “THEY!” has finally arrived just in time to pave the way for Corook’s highly anticipated debut album, a bit committed, due February 28.

“THEY!” invites you into Corook’s world with a warm, reassuring PSA: “Anyone who dresses in androgynous outfits. You are safe here.” Over bouncy percussion, playful guitar riffs, and an irresistibly rich bass groove, they take on a subject that shouldn’t be complicated but often is. “It’s not rocket surgery. It’s pretty easy. I’m just a little more me in the middle,” they sing with a wry eye, balancing humor, honesty, and heart.

“THEY!” is a tribute to self-acceptance, a song that shines confidently while never shying away from the notion that nerves are the very real and human nerves that come with owning your identity. “It’s my favorite track on the album,” corook says. “I wrote it to encapsulate how the milky glass of nerves and joy feels when you share your new pronouns with the world.” But it’s also a needed statement, particularly right now when LGBTQ+ identities are so often under fire.

Corook teased “THEY!”  in response to harmful political rhetoric and hit a chord with fans and allies alike. “THEY!” success has been undeniable, drawing the attention of the Human Rights Campaign, Jonathan Van Ness, Meghan Trainor, and, yes, even Justin Bieber.
